A rough night
I stopped by Mom's this morning. She said that Daddy really had a rough night. He was up pretty much all night "up-side down" as he calls it. Mom thought that it could be the effects of a medication they prescribed to him to help with his restlessness. He talked about being a breadman in his younger days. She has been having a hard time getting him to eat, so I stopped by the donut store and picked up him a cinamon roll and orange juice - his favorite. He was really droggy while I was there - maybe because his lack of sleep last night. The nurse will stop by this morning - we need to see if his fever is back and what is up with that. I hope that it's not a sign of an infection. Mom said that somehow and someway he picked up his left arm and grabbed the bed railing - maybe to help himself stabilize. Bev bought him an electric razor for Father's Day - he wanted to use it by himself on Sunday. He did pretty good, but we need to finish it up for him this afternoon. He just looks so weak and fragile.

Getting Started
I'm new at this, so bear with me. I saw my niece's blog and decided that this was what I needed too. It's a way to stay in touch with our large family, show off my beautiful granddaughters and express my feelings. I've always wanted to start a journal - so this is it.
What's new? We are in the process of remodeling my parents lake house at Lake Palestine. It's been awhile since we've been down, we used to spend every weekend down there when our kids were growing up. It holds a lot of memories of good times for both them and us. It has fallen in bad shape, overgrown and in need of TLC. Just before Daddy got sick, he started the renovations but had to put them on the "back burner". Leaving this place in such a mess worried him. It is my intent to pick up where he left off and finish the project for him. He has taught Ed so much about carpentry, so it's our turn to pay him back and also give my kids and grandkids the foundation to build the same childhood memories.
As you may know, Daddy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer on 6-13-07. Over the past year, he's had a strong round of Chemo, started Tarcevo and then on 3-28 after having a seizure he started radiation treatments to treat several brain tumors. On April 2, he fell and broke his left hip. It just seems like the last few months have been tough on him. The cancer continues to ravish his body, and even after his brain surgery on June 5, his left side is totally paralyized. He came home from the hospital on Friday (6-13) after deciding not to do another round of Chemo. He's not giving in to this disease - just wants to live the rest of his time not being so sick. He's really been brave in this battle - a true warrior. I admire his courage and strength.
